Leigh Sloggett March 2024

Leigh Sloggett’s earthy songwriting and commanding style extends into Blues, Folk and Country music and is delivered with evocative timbres and a soulful touch on searing roots guitar. The musicality of Chris Riseley on double bass and Matt Crump on drums add an extra dimension of depth and vitality creating a distinctive musical experience.

In October 2022 Leigh released his fourth album titled ‘Wait for the Change’ which went on to reach No.1 on the US based ‘Roots Report Top 50 Australian Album Chart’ and No.10 on the ‘Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart’. In the UK it was also ‘Album of the Month’ on West Norfolk Radio’s ‘The Sunday Show’. His 2012 album ‘More Than I Need’ reached No.8 on the ‘Australian Blues & Roots Airplay Chart’. As well as numerous festival appearances, Leigh has toured internationally and has twice been a finalist in the MBAS Blues Challenge – most recently with his trio in 2023. Leigh has been performing consistently over two decades and continues to build his reputation as a unique songwriter and guitarist.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Valley Market Feb CANCELLED

Sadly, due to extreme heat and high winds forecast for this Sunday 4th Feb, we have had to make the difficult decision to CANCEL the Warburton Valley Market this month.

This is never an easy decision to make and we have had to take into consideration the safety of all.

Factors we have taken into consideration are:

  • It does not feel safe to be putting up marquees in high winds
  • High winds cause marquees to be at risk of damage to people and property
  • Risk of exposure to high temperatures of patrons and stallholders
  • Fire Rating; whilst only rated high at this stage, due to Warburton’s limited exit routes, should a fire break out, safety risk is increased.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 3rd March in beautiful autumnal Warburton.

February Valley Market Musicians

Returning to the market all the way from Brazil we have the Forró Lamparina band.

Forró Lamparina delivers to the public an authentic experience with traditional instruments and arrangements of a very popular genre of Brazilian music/party called forró. The word lamparina is the Portuguese name for the kerosene lamp used back in the days in Brazil especially in underdeveloped areas where forró comes from. Many forró parties have been carried out at the light of the lamparina. Lamparina is sure to present a very vibrant performance navigating between heart warming slow paced songs and fast paced ones where not moving the body is not an alternative.

Starting off the music for 2024 at midday we have local duo – Awol Monks.

AWOL MONKS are an acoustic duo from The Yarra Valley. The band formed in 2020 from two music loving friends who met in their teens and reignited their passion for music with a shared love of Artists such as Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley and Jimi Hendrix.

AWOL MONKS brings a unique brand of entertainment fusing soaring vocals and enchanting rhythms, captivating audiences with their engaging and theatrical performance. Boasting a mixture of originals and unique interpretations of covers, AWOL MONKS will make you want to dance and sing along. Their musical chemistry and passion is known to silence the room! Or silence the Cicadas in this case…

See you there with your dancing shoes on!
